EV Battery Management System
A CAN-connected battery management system for a lithium-ion pack powering an electric two-wheeler platform.
The client's electric two-wheeler needed a battery management system capable of accurate state-of-charge estimation, cell balancing across a multi-cell series pack, and hard safety cutoffs for over-current, over-temperature and cell imbalance — engineered to automotive-adjacent reliability standards on a tight cost target.
We designed a BMS board around a dedicated battery monitoring IC for precision cell voltage sensing, with passive balancing circuitry, a coulomb-counting fuel gauge algorithm and hardware-level protection cutoffs independent of firmware for safety-critical fault conditions. CAN bus integration allowed the BMS to report pack status directly to the vehicle's motor controller and dashboard.
The BMS passed the client's internal safety validation testing including simulated cell fault conditions, and shipped as the standard battery management platform across the client's electric two-wheeler product line.
“Battery safety isn't somewhere you want a vendor cutting corners. Their BMS design passed our internal fault-injection testing on the first review cycle.”
